2019-09-16: Mixed vegetation in the Santa Fe National Forests
Mixed vegetation is encountered when hiking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, part of the Santa Fe National Forest. Some areas only have Aspen trees, others only Conifers. Here the Aspens seem to find the environment challenging, with many dead ones. Conversely a healthy young pine is pushing its way through the less successful trees.
