2020-04-27: Old Cottonwood Tree near the Santa Fe River

Thanks to its proximity to the Santa Fe River this old, twisted cottonwood tree has survived many misadventures. Why it grew in a nearly horizontal direction remains a mystery. The waters supplied by the Santa Fe River kept it healthy over the years. Human consumption of river water increased during the life of this old tree. Water supply decreased because of droughts and man-induced climate change. Will this Cottonwood tree adapt to these detrimental changes?
