2020-05-05: Evergreens shade the trail to the top of Atalaya Mtn east of Santa Fe

The summit of Atalaya Mountain is 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) higher than the City of Santa Fe. The main access is from the parking lot of Saint John's College. The trail to the top is a not particularly arduous but persistent climb. Occasionally openings between trees offer views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain across a deep valley which is part of the Santa Fe River watershed.
