It takes only half an hour to reach great high altitude hiking trails from Santa Fe. The Hyde Park Road, which links the city to the Santa Fe Ski Resort, offers many parking lots from which trails disappear in the forest. Even in winter these trails are favored by inhabitants and tourists alike and the parking lots fill-up quickly.
